I don't think this one needs an introduction. Bourjois have expanded their line of perfect matte lipsticks, Rouge Edition Velvet, and introduced a spanking new color for the upcoming holidays season with the very promising name, Happy Nude Year.
Is it nude as its name suggests? And how about its performance? You're invited to read on and see if I had fallen in love with it as much as I had with its older brothers.
The new shade was given the number 09, and Bourjois describe it as a pink hued lip color. I can't imagine why would Bourjois give such a shade a name like "Happy Nude Year", where this is definitely not a nude color, but considering how much I have fallen for it, I can live with that.
The color is vintage-pink-coral type of color, very feminine and gorgeous. A lighter version of the oh so popular 07 Nude-Ist, one of my all time favourites. Actually I wold describe it as the lovechild of 04 Peach Club and 07 Nude-ist - a peachy vintage pink.
The color really screams Summer or Spring to me, but I love wearing such hues all year around, so for me the timing is perfect even during pre-holiday season where everyone is on the search for the perfect berry-burgundy-plum winter shade.
Formula-wise, I find this color to be a tad on the drier side than the others, probably since it would take more effort to make lighter colors to be long lasting. The product is very lightweight and easily distributed on the lips. I love the velvetty smooth finish.
The wearing time is just like its siblings - for me it is a long wearing formula. I tested it during a greasy lasagna meal and it barely budged. Very impressive indeed. For those of you who find the longetivity of the product dissatisfying, I would suggest layering - apply a thin layer first, let it set for 2 minutes and then add additional layer of color to the desired level of opaqueness and let it dry for 30 minutes before eating or drinking. Personally I get about 6 to 8 hours of wear with no issues at all.
To sum it up - I am madly in love with this color and formula. I have been wearing it ever since it landed in my mailbox. If you're on the hunt for wearable corals with matte finish and velvetty feeling, - look no further and totally spoil yourself. The wearing time is a nice bonus, too.
